About this Church

The Bible Fellowship Church of Denville is a part of a larger body by the same name, mostly in Pennsylvania as that is where this communion began in the late 1800′s. It comes from a Mennonite heritage and was called Mennonite Brethren in Christ until 1956 when the current name was chosen.

This church could be considered “Reformed” in doctrine. Our church government is cross between a congregational and Presbyterian form of government. We have Elders and Deacons, and the Pastor is considered an ElderĀ  (plurality of Elders). However the congregation is given final say in certain matters such as finances and election of leadership, including the Pastor (which is a congregational/Baptist) form.

The Denville church was formed from members of a “Mission Church” in the city of Newark NJ. A core group of people moved out of the city in the late 50′s and all moved together to a community very near Denville. The denomination asked this core group to form the new church, and thus began our 50+ year ministry in this area.
